Patty Yancey is a mixed media artist living and working presently on the Northern California coast. The influence of her first career as a graphic artist and illustrator can be seen in her black and white drawings and in the fine attention to detail across mediums. Many of her collage pieces were triggered by artifacts collected decades ago or sketches in old journals from her many cross country road trips. While working as an artist-in-schools, Yancey re-discovered the everyday wonder of viewing the world through the elements of art—line, color, texture, shape—which opened another door to different art forms, tools and materials.
